Program Planning and Management

These courses introduce the engineer to technologies, processes and proven approaches for managing for developing and multi- year sanitary and storm sewer rehabilitation programs.

Introduction to EPAs NPDES Stormwater Program

The purpose of this activity is to introduce EPAs’ NPDES Programs to the Engineer. This presentation will introduce you to the Program areas, Stormwater Rules and Regulations, Developing an MS4 Program and long term stormwater planning.

Location and Prevention of Natural Gas Cross-bores in Sewers

A “cross-bore” is an intersection of an existing underground utility or underground structure by a second utility resulting in the direct contact between the transactions of the utilities that compromises the integrity of either utility or underground structure. The consequences of these cross-bore can be catastrophic. This course will introduce the licensee to the technologies and methods of inspecting, charting and mapping the location of natural gas cross-bores.

Manned Entry Tunnel Inspection and Data Collection and Management

This course introduces the licensee to the challenges, methods, project approach and technologies involved deep tunnel inspection using a specialize dive team. The licensee will learn how to plan, organize, and implement a deep tunnel inspection using a specials dive team. Licensees will learn how to effectively collect and manage the data from the deep tunnel inspections.

Triage Approach to System Evaluation

Sewer System Rehabilitation Programs are typically EPA Mandated multi-year, multi-million (billion) dollar projects to improve sewer conditions and to meet Consent Decree milestones and mandates. Most approaches require total system evaluation and cleaning.  This course introduces the licensee to the Triage Approach. The licensee will learn about the innovative approaches needed to quickly and efficiently prioritize assessment, maintenance and rehabilitation. The Triage Process quickly identifies which pipes need to be addressed first.

Infiltration & Inflow Location & Abatement

This course introduces the licensee to the evaluation tools and technologies that are used to locate and abate “capacity stealing” sources of Infiltration and Inflow into a sanitary sewer system. The course looks at I/I contribution from main lines, manholes, and service laterals. Sewer rehabilitation technologies, and their cost effectiveness in reducing Infiltration will be discussed.

Big Pipes and Big Challenges. Proven Effective Technologies

This course introduces the licensee to the tools and technologies used to evaluate and clean large bore sanitary sewers. These sewers are often deep, difficult to access and suffer from years of neglect. Various, tools, technologies and approaches are discussed including pre and post sonar inspection, cleaning techniques, cleaning water recycling equipment, flow control, debris disposal and post cleaning measurement to ensure a successful project.
